The Foundation for the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming provides grants to communities throughout Wyoming. Bishop Smiley, Episcopal Bishop of Wyoming, and the Foundation recently made $1,000,000 available to help offset some of the hardships of the Covid-19 epidemic. The first $500,000 has been distributed throughout the state and the second $500,000 will be distributed soon. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Sheridan recently received $10,000 from this grant which they gave to the Hub on Smith as outreach to help with the increased need for meals to our seniors in Sheridan, Ranchester, Big Horn, and Story. The Hub has also stepped in to help with preparation of meals for the Lunch Together program which many people rely on but also had to cease operations.
As part of the Grant requirements St. Peter’s asks parishioners, other churches, and businesses in Sheridan to help match these funds and by participating as volunteers. There has truly been an outpouring of God’s love from the people of Sheridan during this period of uncertainty.
This is not the first time that St. Peter’s Episcopal Church has been able to help nonprofits in Sheridan. The Church is able to apply for Grants from the Foundation to help funding needs for worthy projects in our community. Members of the parish are asked to participate in these programs and help build community and promote growth in those programs to help families and children in our area to have a better life. We have partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Food Group, and most recently with the Hub on Smith.
