Dear Friends of The Hub on Smith,

As the holidays approach, we’re stepping into the season with a spirit inspired by A Christmas Carol—celebrating Christmas Past, Present, and Future. This theme speaks to the heart of The Hub’s story, reflecting on a wonderful history which began over 50 years ago, the work we’re doing right now, and the future we envision for the generations to come.

Christmas Past

Looking back over the past 50 years, I feel immense gratitude for every friend, every moment, and every act of kindness that has shaped The Hub. From the first rides on the “Mini-Bus” and volunteers delivering meals, to the friendships and laughter shared in our building at 211 Smith Street, we have built a place where people feel welcome and connected. It’s been a privilege to watch The Hub grow into a center of support and community, all thanks to friends like you who have walked with us on this journey.

Christmas Present

Today, our mission is more vital than ever. Each day, we provide meals, transportation,

in-home services, caregiver support, and more to help older adults stay healthy and engaged at home. But the cost of doing this work continues to rise, and for several years we have needed to raise close to $1 million annually to meet these growing needs. This year, we are sharing our need for community support and want to let you know how essential your support is to sustain the services we provide.

As we look ahead, we hold tightly to The Hub’s vision: People of all ages thrive when older adults are supported, strengthened, and engaged in our community. This vision fuels everything we do. We imagine a future where older adults are not only cared for but are active, valued, and deeply connected—a community where every generation can flourish. Your support is what keeps this vision alive, ensuring The Hub remains strong for years to come.
