The Hub on Smith’s Outdoor Recreation Program helps older adults stay active, adventurous, and connected to the outdoors. From seasonal activities and skill-building classes to group outings and local recreation opportunities, this program is designed to support movement, confidence, and fun at every ability level. Whether you’re trying something new or getting back to what you love, you’ll find a welcoming group and a great reason to get outside.

Winter Adventures ( January - February 2026 )

Join the Hub and Steve Stresky for outdoor, winter adventures! These are easy routes, but you'll need equipment to navigate snowy conditions (snowshoes or skis). Black Mountain Nordic is offering free rentals for those of you who want to try it out or don't have the gear. Bring appropriate clothing, water, and lunch to enjoy on the trail. We’ll meet at the Hub at 9:30 am to arrange carpooling and will return no later than 4:30 pm. Destinations are on established trails that are usually, but not always groomed.

Our hopes are to explore : Sibley Lake, Cutler Hill, (these two have warming huts, where we'll enjoy a hot wood stove), Pole Creek, & South Piney Canyon.

Due to ever changing weather and road conditions, adventures may be canceled, rescheduled or locations changed.
