On December 16, The Hub on Smith was presented with a $1,000 check from Brandon Harnish, President of Local 951 – SMART Transportation Division. Also present was April Ford, Assistant State Legislative Director for SMART TD. SMART TD has seven local chapters around the state of Wyoming and each are making donations within their local communities to a nonprofit they feel is making a positive impact in the community. Ms. Ford shared that many of her local members receive meals from The Hub on Smith and enjoy getting together with friends to play BINGO, shoot pool and socialize when the facility is open. Their generous donation was made to ensure that The Hub can continue to provide essential services to seniors during this challenging time.
“We are always appreciative when other local organizations recognize the good work that our teams do to serve the Sheridan community. We know that many other organizations have faced financial challenges throughout the coronavirus pandemic, and receiving this gift from within the community is really meaningful. It reminds us that we’re all in this together and we really do get by with a little help from our friends and neighbors!” said Carmen Rideout, Executive Director of The Hub on Smith. “The Hub” as it is known to patrons, serves approximately 3,500 seniors annually through a myriad of services including Help At Home in-home services, Day Break adult day care, the Home Delivered Meals program which has served as many as 450 meals per day during the COVID-19 pandemic and many other wrap-around family caregiver and supportive services. “We couldn’t do what we do without the support of friends like Brandon, April, the members of Local 951 and SMART Transportation Division,” Rideout continued, “we’re honored that they chose us for their gift and will utilize it to continue to help seniors across Sheridan County.”
