The Explore History program is generously funded by the Next50 Initiative. \n\n\n\nMonthly on the 2nd Tuesday • 10:00 am • $5 voluntary contribution • Dining Room \n\n\n\nDecember 9 • Streetcar #115; On Track for Preservation  \n\n\n\nSCLT History Program Manager Kevin Knapp will talk about streetcar number 115\, including its history\, and future plans for restoration. \n\n\n\nJanuary 13 • Unearthing Stories Together: Dinosaurs\, Tribal Knowledge\, and Shared History \n\n\n\nThomas Hebert\, Executive Director of the Natural History Museum of Wyoming\, will discuss his experiences as a paleontologist working with American Indian tribes to preserve fossil collections. \n\n\n\nFebruary 10 • Powder River Expedition into Lakota Cheyenne CountryDonovin Sprague\, Minnicoujou Lakota and Cheyenne\, and faculty instructor at Sheridan College\, will give an overview of the Powder River Expedition through eastern Wyoming and events as they met and traveled into Lakota Cheyenne country.

This talk will explore the site’s past—from the story of K.N. Garden and the presence of General George Crook and Camp Cloud Peak to findings from a recent archaeological survey that shed new light on human activity in the area. Kevin will also discuss the history and future preservation of Streetcar #115\, Wyoming’s last historic electric streetcar\, and more. \n\n\n\nApril 8 • Historic Homicides \n\n\n\nCynde Georgen\, retired superintendent at the Trail End State Historic Site and District Manager for the State Parks and Cultural Resources department\, will present research for her new book about homicides in this area between the end of the Indian Wars and the start of World War II. \n\n\n\nMay 13 • Wyoming Apple Project \n\n\n\nJoin us for a new video presentation from Dr. Joseph Magby\, plant physiologist and instructor at Yakima Valley College\, about his graduate work at the University of Wyoming on the history of apples grown in Wyoming\, including the unique locations where they were planted and the broader historical context surrounding those orchards.
